The Registry Checklist
The essentials, minus the marketing. Print it and take it shopping, or hand it to the grandparents.
The real essentials
- ☐ Car seat — rear-facing infant seat, installed early, checked free by a certified tech, registered for recalls
- ☐ Sleep surface — crib, bassinet, or play yard meeting federal standards + firm new-standard mattress
- ☐ Fitted sheets (2–3). That's the whole crib list.
- ☐ Rectal digital thermometer — the one that matters under 3 months
- ☐ Bottles + brush (even if breastfeeding) · formula if using
- ☐ Nursing pillow if breastfeeding (feeding only — never for sleep)
- ☐ Diapers in two sizes, wipes, changing pad, barrier cream

- ☐ Swaddles or sleep sacks (no weighted anything)
- ☐ Stroller and/or carrier
- ☐ Nasal bulb, saline drops, baby nail file
- ☐ White noise machine (7 feet from crib, volume low) — optional but beloved
